India firm wins Khalifa port power deal

Abu Dhabi Master developer and regulator of ports and industrial zones Abu Dhabi Ports Company ( ADPC ) yesterday said it had awarded a procurement and construction contract worth more than Dh300 million to Indian engineering firm Larsen & Toubro.
The contract is for its flagship project at the Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone (KPIZ) in Taweelah.
The agreement is for the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the electrical medium voltage (MV) power supply via a 33 kV power cable network and three 33kV/11kV primary distribution substations, which will provide the main power supply for the first phase of Khalifa Port.
Strategically located between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai in Taweelah, KPIZ is a multi-billion dollar project designed as a multi-purpose facility that involves the construction of a world-scale container and industrial port in addition to the development of more than 100 square kilometres of industrial, logistics, commercial, educational, and residential special econ-omic and free zones in the first phase.
