Gulf News

Muscat The unrest in the region has had an impact on the sale of televisions in some countries, but other states experienced healthy growth, according to Justin Shaw, General Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics.

“In some places the market is affected, but with countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar showing strong growth, overall sales have seen healthy growth,” he said.

Ajay Ganti, CEO of Al Seeb Technical Est (Sarco), distributor for Samsung in Oman, said that sales of Samsung televisions had experienced over 50 per cent growth in Oman so far this year.

Steady climb

“We have been growing steadily with our market share last year going up to 41 per cent in value terms and 37 per cent in terms of quantity,” he added.

He pointed out that 3D televisions were doing extremely well. “We have captured 95 per cent of the market for 3D televisions in the country,” claimed Ganti.

Now Ganti reckons that with the introduction of the new Samsung Smart TVs, the Korean electronic giant will further consolidate its position in the region.

“The new Smart TV line is set to redefine the home entertainment experience,” Ganti said.

Samsung’s Smart TV combines elegant design with a wide range of features that offer viewers the most from their entertainment experience. It offers a full viewing experience with its minimal aesthetics and 3D. It also offers a new world of web-connected TV entertainment and allows users to easily search for movies and TV shows, browse the web, explore Samsung apps, chat with friends and more.

Samsung has launched a Total 3D Solution, which takes consumers even deeper into the 3D experience.

Ground-breaking audio

Total 3D Solution includes a ground-breaking 3D audio technology which simulates the height and depth of the audio track by distinguishing between foreground and background sounds. Samsung Total 3D also includes the world’s slimmest 3D Blu-ray player — the BD-D7500 — with many features and epitomises Samsung’s 3D concept design philosophy.

Greater comfort

Adding to the experience, Total 3D Solution brings the company’s Silhouette-designed 3D active glasses. The glasses are now the world’s lightest 3D active glasses at 28 grams and offer greater comfort thanks to the new placement of printed circuits and batteries behind each ear. Samsung’s Total 3D Solution is further complemented by a new wireless charger which charges up to four pairs of 3D glasses.

Samsung’s new 3D glasses use Bluetooth instead of infra-red signals to sync with the 3D TV, meaning the glasses need not have line-of-sight to the TV set.

Samsung’s Smart TV line-up includes a range of LED, LCD and PDP TVs.
