Emirates, Saudi airline start Haj flights

Dubai Emirates and Saudi Arabian Airlines yesterday started more than 50 dedicated flights to Jeddah and Madinah daily for Haj pilgrims.

Additional counters have opened at the Dubai International Airport to serve the pilgrims. Emirates operates 38 additional flights daily. The Saudi airline operates between 11 and 14 additional flights from Dubai to Jeddah and Madinah.

Emirates flies 23 times to Jeddah and 15 to Madinah daily while Saudi Arabian Airlines flies seven times to Jeddah and four times to Madinah.

These Haj flights will continue operating until November 2, said Abdullah Ali, Haj coordinator at Dubai International Airport . Counters in Terminals 1 and 3 of Dubai International Airport will be opened to pilgrims fours hours prior to their flight departure.

He said during a joint press conference by Dubai Airport and Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities that a committee has been formed to help the pilgrims. A medical committee has also been formed.

“Pilgrims are strictly advised to adhere to instructions when preparing for the journey to Makkah and while heading to the airport and during their flights,” said a representative from the Dubai Police Airport Security Department.

n Avoid wearing metallic objects as it will be thoroughly inspected by security and could cause delays.

n Take all required vaccinations.

n Carrying more than 100ml of liquids is strictly prohibited.

n Do not leave baggage unattended or accept to carry packages from strangers.
