Four new bus routes to boost connectivity

Dubai The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced four new bus services yesterday.

They are from Deira Bus Station to Al Nahda; Al Rashidiya Bus Station to Jumeirah Beach Park; Gold Souq Station to International City; and Deira City Centre Bus Station to Dubai Media City.

Several services have also been upgraded including the overnight service from Al Rashidiya Metro station to Nakheel Harbour and Tower Metro station, where buses will now run every 20 minutes.

Routes 99 and 8A have been extended to Ibn Battuta Mall and Route 93 will now terminate at Mall of the Emirates.

Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari, Chief Executive of the Public Transport Agency at the RTA , said: "The RTA is keen on broadening and upgrading the public transport network to cope with the urban expansion and demographic growth in Dubai."

The four routes are: Route 22 from Deira Bus Station to Al Nahda 1; Route 47 from Al Rashidiya Bus Station to Jumeirah Beach Park; Route 53 from Gold Souq Station to the International City; and Route 88 from Deira City Centre Bus Station to Dubai Media City.

"The aim is to lure all segments of the community to use mass transit systems for their daily travels, which will have a positive outcome on easing the flow of traffic and improving the environment.

He said seven buses have been deployed on Route 22 from Saturday to Friday with a 20-minute service frequency. Ten buses have been deployed on Route 47 from Saturday to Wednesday, with eight on Fridays with a 20-minute frequency. Nine buses have been deployed on Route 53 from Saturday to Friday at a 20-minute frequency. Twelve buses have been deployed on Route 88 Saturday to Thursday, and eight buses on Friday at 20-minute intervals.
