Carpooling urged during Eid break
Wednesday, Nov 02, 2011
Dubai: Senior officials urge the public to consider carpooling during the Eid vacation to limit congestion in Dubai as upgraded and exceptional services are put in place to ease the flow of traffic.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced yesterday they will provide special services aimed at offering temporary traffic solutions at The Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa .
This involves adding to bus, taxi and Metro transit services at The Dubai Mall/ Burj Khalifa station during Eid Al Adha holidays from Sunday to Wednesday. This is aimed at streamlining traffic flow and easing passenger mobility during this period in cooperation with Emaar Properties and the General Headquarters of Dubai Police.
“We have upgraded the service at Burj Khalifa station through separating entry and exit points, and improving the operational efficiency of the station,” said Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of RTA Rail Agency and Head of RTA External Events Organising Team responsible for operational processes.
“We have also revised the frequency of the feeder bus service [F13] to be four minutes during peak hours, changed bus pick up and drop off points, upped the number of buses from five standard type buses to ten articulated buses in order to raise the passenger capacity by 60 per cent per bus, and realigned the schedules of the Metro and feeder bus services,” he said.
