DOHA: Gulf Drilling International (GDI), Qatar's first onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling services company, is exploring drilling opportunity in the region and international Markets after its outstanding success in Qatar.

"GDI will continue our strong performance in the drilling activity and is looking forward to diversify our scope by providing non-traditional services to various clients. Following our success in Qatar, GDI will continue to explore Drilling opportunities regionally and in international Markets," said Ibrahim Al Othman, GDI's GDI.

He was speaking during a function held to celebrate the company's 5th Anniversary. The event was celebrated by rewarding its long-serving employees with gifts and certificates.

GDI began operations on May 18, 2004, as the first onshore and offshore oil and gas drilling services provider in Qatar. Among the company's long list of achievements are ownership of nine state-of-the-art, fully utilised drilling rigs (4 land and 5 offshore jack-up rigs), recruiting a workforce of almost 1,000 staff, achieving ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety certification, and being listed on the Doha Securities Market through its parent company, Gulf International Services (GIS) QSC.

"On this joyous occasion GDI would like to thank all its clients, bankers, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers who have supported the company at all times and partnered in achieving our goals," said Al Othman.

Demonstrating the company's commitment to providing safe working conditions, GDI has achieved a remarkable Total Recorded Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.62, significantly lower than the GCC target of 0.92 TRIR.

As oil and gas are key sector of the Qatari economy, GDI is committed to eagerly implement Qatarisation policy by recruiting qualified nationals and imparting them with the necessary training.
