Expected to deal with over 4000 online application each month
Dubai - UAE: UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) organized a gala dinner last week to announce the launch of a new electronic medical licensing service to all its clients and stakeholders. The event, which took place at the Intercontinental Hotel Festival City, Dubai, gathered a large number of decision makers and leading figures in the aviation industry and the field of aviation medicine.
HE Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, undertook the official launch of the new electronic service designed to receive medical application forms from pilots and aircrews through a newly set up website. Al Suwaidi asserted that he is "confident the new E-medical service will gain the approval of clients and strategic partners and will raise up the standards of services provided by the GCAA."
This project was made possible thanks to the efforts of the GCAA's Licensing Department, under the management of Captain Khalid Humaid Al-Ali, and the Aeromedical Section under the management of Dr. Nabila Al-Awadi, in cooperation with GCAA's Department of Information Technology. The E-Medical service is expected to receive approximately four thousand medical requests per month, and to considerably reduce processing time.
Attendees at the gala included Dr. Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Practices and Licensing at the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Adel Ahmad Al Redha, Executive Vice President - Engineering & Operations, Emirates Airline, and Dr. Ali Obaid Al Ali, Director of Health Regulation Division at HAAD, and Captain Salah Awad Al-Amiri of Etihad Airways and a number of executive directors and approved aeromedical doctors by the GCAA.
Dr. Nabila Al Awadi, Head of Aeromedical Section at GCAA, explained that "the launch of the E-Medical Service is considered a radical turning point in GCAA's Aeromedical Section, and today we celebrate the new high-quality service designed to save effort and reduce processing time." She added: "I would like to thank all those who participated in implementing this project and made it possible, I would also like to highlight the unlimited support by our strategic partners to contribute effectively to the success of the new service."
Contrary to the previous paper applications, the new E-Medical Service will also help the GCAA to establish figures and statistics which will largely contribute in future strategic planning.
