Sulaimaniyah, July 18 (AKnews) - The first plane to take a new route from Istanbul landed at Sulaimaniyah airport today

On board the inaugural Turkish Airlines flight were a number of Turkish officials and businessmen who are looking to expand business opportunities in the region.

"These flights are important in bringing together the two cities of Istanbul and Sulaimaniyah in all aspects" said Sulaimaniyah governor Bahroz Galali.

Sulaimaniyah airport director Tahir Abdullah said that the operation of flights between the two cities "indicates the growing development of the region and Sulaimaniyah city."

Sulaimaniyah airport currently hosts 40 flights every week most of them with European countries.
