Entrepreneurs preparing to meet in Beirut to share their digital dreams
12 June 2012
BEIRUT: Next month over 200 entrepreneurs from across the region will gather in Beirut to share their ideas, compete for prizes and make connections at Start-up Weekend.
The three-day event will take place at the incubator and business development center Berytech June 6-8, bringing together aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and at least one guest speaker from global technology hub Silicon Valley.
Building on the success of the 2010 weekend in Beirut with Yalla Start-up, the 54-hour get-together will be an intense networking conference where participants will work non-stop to create and promote the best business ideas.
The concept comes from a global movement of entrepreneurs learning about starting successful businesses, with the non-profit organization based in Seattle aiming to bring like-minded people together to host workshops and pitch ideas to start companies. Participants will go through the steps of coding, designing and market validation.
Sponsors of Start-up Weekend include: Berytech, Aramex, Blom Bank, the American University of Beirut, Lebanese American University and investment company N2V, with Dunkin Donuts providing the food.
