Emirates launches official Facebook page

May 2012
Emirates Airline 's recently-launched Facebook page has attracted more than 300,000 fans within the first three weeks, the carrier reported.

The airline held a soft launch on for the new page www.facebook.com/emirates, in preparation for the unveiling of its global brand platform, Hello Tomorrow and featured a series of teaser quizzes highlighting vignettes from one of the new TV commercials, Emirates said.

"Emirates new brand platform Hello Tomorrow is connecting people and cultures by creating relevant and meaningful experiences and Facebook is a proven mechanism to do just that," said Sir Maurice Flanagan, executive vice chairman of the Emirates Airline and Group.

Meanwhile, the airline has teamed up with MasterCard Worldwide to offer customers who book their travel through www.emirates.com between 15 April and 13 June the chance to win over $135,000 in prizes.

A total of 180 customers, from the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, who book and pay for their flights online with their MasterCard credit or debit card will go into the daily draw to win back the value of their ticket, up to $750, Emirates said.

Each day, three customers will be randomly selected from across the region.

Emirates will also give away two Business Class tickets each week during the competition period, valid for return travel to any one of the airline's 123 destinations.

Emirates also said it has launched an enhanced Graphical User Interface developed by Panasonic to improve its inflight entertainment system. The new interface will be introduced shortly across the A380 fleet and subsequently over the next year across the majority of its Boeing 777 aircraft.
