Dubai: Emirates NBD, announced that it has incorporated biometric technology in its mobile banking services.

Using the bank’s proprietary “Smart Touch” capability, customers can use Apple’s Touch ID and Samsung’s Fingerprint Scanner on the Emirates NBD Mobile Banking App to log in securely and view balance statement, transaction history and summary for chosen favourite accounts, without the hassle of entering a password. The bank plans to introduce additional services to the Smart Touch platform to enhance customer convenience.

In recent years, Emirates NBD has made significant investments to create a more enriching, personalised banking experience, leveraging cutting-edge technology in line with global best practice, as part of the bank’s commitment to offering customers convenient ‘on the go’ banking solutions that match their needs and busy lifestyles. With the increase in digitisation, the bank has also made significant investment in offering customers a safer banking environment. Biometrics are widely accepted as the most fail-proof authentication system as it measures and analyses unique human body characteristics, minimising vulnerabilities of duplication as well as forgotten, lost or stolen passwords.

Smart Touch allows customers to log in to the Emirates NBD Mobile Banking App using their fingerprint. The bank’s mobile banking App — available in Apple App Store, Google Play, Blackberry App World and Windows Store. More than 20 per cent of the bank’s active customer base actively use the mobile banking service to perform their banking transactions.
