Emirates NBD and AKbank host Leading UAE and Turkish food manufacturers and distributors
Dubai, 27th February 2012: Emirates NBD , the leading banking group in the Middle East, and Akbank, the leading bank in Turkey, hosted a joint reception for leading food manufacturers and distributors from Turkey and UAE. The reception, which had more than 50 companies from Turkey and UAE in attendance, was graced by the presence of the Honorable Undersecretary for the Turkish Ministry of Economy, H.E Ahmet Yakici, the Turkish Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Vural Altoy, the Turkish Consul General for UAE, Ms. Elif Comoglu Ulgen and members of the senior management from Emirates NBD and Akbank.
The event, which follows closely on the heels of the recent historic State Visit by the Turkish President to the UAE, provided a unique opportunity to industry leaders from both countries to meet, exchange thoughts and explore potential opportunities to further strengthen the business ties between UAE and Turkey.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Giel-Jan Van Der Tol, Group Head Wholesale Banking, Emirates NBD said: "UAE and Turkey enjoy very close historical ties. There is a tremendous potential to further strengthen the trade and investment links between the two countries.
