Egypt's Global Consolidated Contractors (GCC) has recently been awarded a contract to implement the Bab Trablus project in Libya, a senior executive told Zawya.

"A preliminary agreement has been reached for the execution of the project worth USD 300 million, while the actual contract signature is scheduled to take place in the very near future," said Abdel Moaty Ghoniem, deputy chairman, Global Consolidated Contractors (GCC).

"The company had previously been awarded the infrastructure design work for Misratah City.  A project estimated at LYD 1 billion, and is being executed by Italian company Impregilo, with the aim of developing water, power and sanitary infrastructure networks to the city," said Ghoneim.

With a paid capital of USD 100 million GCC is currently engaged in the implementation of various projects across the USA, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Sudan. It has also executed more than 70% of all projects in Libya before the onset of the Libyan revolution, added Ghoneim.

The company is also involved in the execution of the third phase of the underground subway line in Egypt, in collaboration with a Spanish consultant; while finalizing designs for the Japanese University set to be constructed at Borg El Arab; in addition to currently performing the necessary studies for revamping various river ports in Egypt.
