Invests in a wide array of events and programmes to attract the best UAE national talent

Dubai, UAE, 27 April 2015

Ducab, the Middle East's leading manufacturer of high quality cables and cabling products, has a robust Emiratisation programme in place that has led to UAE nationals holding more than 20 per cent of the roles in Ducab.

Mona Mohammed Fekri, General Manager - Human Resources, Ducab, said: "Ducab is highly supportive of Emiratisation. We are keen to attract and retain talented UAE nationals who can help us create competitive advantages and deliver sustainable value. Technical and engineering skills are an invaluable part of the economic mix, and we are very pleased at Ducab becoming an employer of choice for UAE national engineers."

Ducab is also being selected as the 'Employer of the Year' (semi-Government) award for 2014 from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai.

In a bid to attract fresh graduates, Ducab strengthened its relationship with universities and colleges through regular visits and open days over the years. Through an MoU with the UAE Ministry of Higher Education, Ducab can access a pool of qualified students and also offer scholarships to engineering students across the region and for overseas higher education.

Graduates are offered four paths of entry to a rewarding career at Ducab - as summer trainees, interns or work placements, on an Engineer Student Scholarship Programme, or as part of Ducab's well-regarded Graduate Trainee Programme. The Engineer Student Scholarship programme has already yielded results, with 13 engineering students from the UAE's universities successfully recruited to Ducab. The Summer Trainee channel also proved an attractive proposition for UAE nationals wanting to gain first-hand experience in a challenging work environment, with 10 summer trainees joining between June and July 2014.

"The sustainable development of UAE national skills is an invaluable part of the UAE's future. As a UAE-based firm, Ducab is proud to be playing a role in cultivating a new generation of experts capable of taking on leadership roles while keeping up with the best in the world. This requires recruitment to lead to learning and retention," she added.

A recent MoU with the Dubai Women Establishment saw Ducab as the exclusive sponsor of the Women Leadership Exchange Programme (WLEP), aimed at empowering Emirati women in the workplace. The Company is committed to further empower the Emirati workforce through development and career advancement opportunities to become future leaders. Approximately 45% of Ducab's office based Emirati employees are women, therefore, there is great appetite to build, empower and inspire women to become future leaders.

Ducab is determined to drive its Emiratisation agenda forward by offering a combination of training programs and creative business project assignments in order to build the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Emirati workforce.
