Ducab showcases range of energy cables at Middle East Electricity Exhibition 2013
Dubai, 16th February 2013: Dubai Cable Company (Ducab), one of the largest manufacturers of power cables and copper products in the Middle East, will be launching new copper products while showcasing its range of energy cables, connect accessories and copper at Middle East Electricity Exhibition 2013. Ducab will be prominently represented at stand 7E10, Hall 7, at the 38th edition of Middle East Electricity running from February 17th to 19th 2012 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, MEE is not just the largest power event in the region but also the longest-running.
Ducab's participation at MEE will see it network with existing suppliers and customers, and also reach out to potential clients in new markets. The company's presence at MEE comes on the back of a string of recent project wins, including an AED 140 million contract for the South Al-Shamkha Infrastructure Development project in Abu Dhabi, AED 57 million for Abu Dhabi's Cleveland Clinic project, AED 20 million for Abu Dhabi's Presidential Palace Development project in Abu Dhabi worth Dh20 million, and AED 10 million for the Ras Al Khair project. The company has also scored projects from the US Government worth AED 4.4 million in Afghanistan.

Ducab is the only BASEC approved cable and wire manufacturer to offer wires operating in stringent conditions ranging from -40deg C to 105deg C

MEE 2013 will host over 1000 exhibitors from 56 countries. It is the region's largest power event, attracting leading names in the power, lighting, new, renewable and nuclear sectors.

The cables comply with and are approved to the full British Standard of the Loss Prevention Certificate Board (LPCB) and Lloyd's Register, UK. These certifications are the latest in a string of recognitions achieved by the company including a two time winner of Gulf Excellence Award, two time winner of Dubai Quality Award, Gold category 2004 & 1998.
In 2009 Ducab was honoured with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Business Excellence Award for their achievements in the manufacturing sector; this award ceremony was in the presence of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Ducab-HV was officially inaugurated in November 2009 in presence of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai., and HH Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
Ducab-HV is a joint venture between Ducab (50%), DEWA (25%) and ADWEA (25%) to manufacture and sell cable systems in the voltage range 66kV (66,000 Volts) to 400kV (400,000 Volts) covering the highest voltage currently used in the GCC. It is the first dedicated HV facility in the region, and covers a built area of 30,000m2 on a 93,000m2 premises at the Ducab Jebel Ali site.
The plant's most prominent characteristic is a 44-storey (i.e. a height of 148 meters) tower housing state of the art extrusion equipment designed to ensure that the very high voltage products are manufactured to the highest standards necessary to provide faultless service. The tower, thought to be the tallest industrial tower in the GCC, also contains a series of Clean Room facilities in the top levels to ensure no contamination of the critical cable insulation.
