DLD promotes Dubai's real estate sector in the UK's capital

British come 3rd on the list of top investors in Dubai's property market

Dubai, UAE, 15 February 2015: Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced that it is strategically partnering with the Dubai Property Show, a major U.K. real estate exhibition, which is taking place in London from February 27 until March 1.

Organised in conjunction with DLD's Investment Management and Promotion Centre, the three-day event is aimed at reinforcing cooperation among all parties operating in the emirate's real estate sector, as well as attracting local and foreign investments to Dubai.

"Our mission is to promote Dubai's real estate market in order to brand the emirate as being the most prominent real estate investment destination in the world. We are committed to providing all the necessary support and encouragement to such valuable initiatives which play an important role in emphasising Dubai's status as an attractive market for investments worldwide," said Director General of the DLD, His Excellency Sultan Butti Bin Mejren.

Over the past few months, DLD has been sending out invitations to property developers and real estate brokers operating in Dubai to participate in the event for them to promote their products to potential buyers, in particular British investors, who are showing growing interest in the local real estate market.

"This event is particularly important because it is being held in one of the most prestigious European capitals, London, which enjoys strong business links with Dubai as well as a solid trade exchange. These close ties are evident with the large British expatriate community living and working in Dubai," Bin Mejren added.

The statistics released by DLD show that the number of British investors in Dubai's real estate market exceeds 19,000, with these customers spending nearly AED 57 billion on more than 30,000 properties. The high level of activity sees British real estate investors coming in at third place on the list of top investors in the Dubai real estate market.

"Our participation in this exhibition is in parallel with a series of other successful events within an initiative known as 'Tarweej' (a developers' assembly) launched by the Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Centre in Dubai in May 2013. This aims to support the emirate's real estate sector by promoting communication between all parties and by focusing on products and real estate projects in Dubai. It also promotes the developments from the Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Centre, particularly the Real Estate Sustainability Initiative," said Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General of DLD and Head of the Investment Management and Promotion Centre.

"DLD has been communicating with all companies operating in the real estate market in Dubai to participate in the Dubai Property Show and contribute to enhancing awareness of Dubai's real estate market. We can certainly attract more new investors through such events," she added.

Rashid pointed that the number of developers participating in the Dubai Property Show in London has reached 35, most notably Emaar Properties, Dubai Properties Group, Dyar, Al Barari and Union Properties, in addition to many other real estate developers and brokers working in Dubai's real estate market.

DLD will continue to hold more such events in the capitals and major cities around the world as Dubai prepares to host Expo of 2020. Such preparations entail the construction of more facilities to accommodate the growing number of visitors before and during the exhibition.

The Dubai Property Show will act as a global platform that will bring together real estate developers, sales and marketing agents, hospitality developers, financial institutions and representatives of certain government departments, as well as architects, interior designers and many other companies operating in domains relevant to the property sector.
