Baku representative office organised conference is attended by over 40 government and private sector representatives in Dushanbe

Dubai - As part of its efforts to promote Dubai as alucrative business destination and to familiarise overseas investors with the emirate's business opportunities, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry's representative office in Azerbaijan recently organised a conference on exporting food stuffs to Dubai in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe.

The conference, attended by over 40 government and private sector representatives of Tajikistan, was addressed by Nigina Anvari, Deputy Chairperson, Tajikistan State Committee of Investment and State Property Management, Omar Khan, Director, International Offices, Dubai Chamber, and Maryam YousufBeshwari, Food Studies and Surveys Officer, Dubai Municipality.

Omar Khan stated that the objective of the conference was to provide a general overview of important aspects of doing business in Dubai as well as food packaging and certification guidelines for aspiring Tajik food exporters of agricultural produce to Dubai and the UAE.

He further stated that on its part Dubai Chamber attaches great importance to the issue of food security and is well aware of the CIS markets' huge potential in meeting the food requirements of the emirate and the region due to the abundance of high quality agricultural produce in these marketplaces.

The International OfficesDirector at Dubai Chamber also expressed theChamber's desire to attract a number of Tajik food production companies to the Dubai market, as he invited them to participate in the Gulfood, which he said is one of the largest exhibitions specializing in presenting food products to the region offering a solid platform to showcase their products in Dubai's lucrative market.

Khan added that Dubai Chamber looks at the CIS market as a promising destination for its members which also falls in line with its strategy to explore new and upcoming international markets for them as well as other Dubai companies.

Thanking the Tajikistan Embassy in the UAE, Dubai Municipality and flydubai for the success of the conference, Khan pointed out that Dubai Chamber regularly organises conferences and seminars to promote the emirate's investment opportunities to overseas businesses.

On his part, Sanan Nasibli, Head of Dubai Chamber Azerbaijan Office, gave a presentation on "UAE Food Trade Outlook" while Ms. Maryam YousufBeshwari, Food Studies and Surveys Officer, Dubai Municipality, spoke about Food Import Packaging and Certification Standards in Dubai (UAE).

In light of Tajikistan's significant agribusiness potential and its vast supplies of organic fruits and vegetables, long-standing agricultural traditions, and climates to support year-round crop and animal farming, Dubai Chamber is seeking to attract Dubai investors to invest in Tajikistan's agriculture and food industry, transport and logistics and warehousing sectors.
