"Latest Technologies & Techniques in Airway Management Highlighted at Dubai Anesthesia 2015"

Dubai - Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Ahmad bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the Dubai Health Authority, inaugurated today the 8th edition of the Dubai Anaesthesia Conference and Exhibition on behalf of H.E. Engr. Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor Director General of Dubai Health Authority,at Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai Healthcare City.Dubai Anaesthesia 2015 witnesses the participation of 50 exhibiting companies displaying their latest medical devices, technologies, and equipment in this specialized field.

Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dr. Ahmad bin Kalbantoured the exhibition area, and explored the latest technologies and equipment displayed by prominent companies. Dr. Ahmad bin Kalban stressed on the great support DHA offers to this conference which comes as a solid confirmation to its strategy of supporting continuing-education and training for doctors in different fields of science and medical disciplines, to ensure the provision of the best integrated healthcare levels, which contribute to the achievement of health security and sustainable development in the medical sector.

During his opening speech, delivered on behalf of H.E. Engr. Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor, Dr. Ahmad bin Kalbanstressed out the rapid developments witnessed by the medical sectorover the past few years, and how it had contributed significantly to enabling full-recovery opportunities for patients in Dubai's health institutions. He pointed out that in spite of the remarkable developments in various medical sciences, the need is still there for carrying more researches and studies on many diseases that still await healing treatments.

Dr. Ahmad bin Kalbanalso referred to the efforts made by DHA under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to develop healthcare services in general, including the departments of anesthesia in all hospitals with a focus on training doctors to implement and use modern technologies in anaesthesia and pain relief.

From his side, Dr. Mansour Nadhari, the Conference Chairman and the Consultant & Head of Anaesthesia Department at Rashid Hospital - Trauma Centre said: "Every year,the scientific committee strives to highlightrecent developments in cutting-edge research and innovative medical applications in Anaesthesia. This year,in the 8thedition of the Dubai Anaesthesia, we decided to concentrate on achieving and establishing airway control which leads to effective ventilation and oxygenation. For that,we havesetup a dedicated venue that we called the 'Airway Village.'There, we will be focusing on airway-management guidelines and the latest technologies,while providing hands-on training opportunities. Anesthesiologists and specialists will be able to learn about- and to try - the latest techniques and equipment used in airway management in intensive care and emergency medicine,under the supervision of highly qualified specialists and anesthesiologists."

Dr. Mansour continued on saying: "The airway village is basically a platform to introduce new technologies and devices to ourparticipants and to give them thechance to thoroughly try them out. This is very importantas some of these technologies and equipment are becoming the new standard,eventually increasing to the safety levels in our field."

Dr. Mansour concluded: "There is no doubt that Dubai Anaesthesia Conference and Exhibition has witnessed tremendous improvement and growth from year to year, judgedby the number of local, regional, and international participants that is steadily increasing each year, and the international recognition the conference is gaining year after year. I want also to highlight that Dubai Anaesthesia is witnessing a considerable participation of specialists coming from Europe, United States and Australia."
