During its participation, Dewan will compete with renowned design firms for the Cityscape Global 2010 Award in the category for 'GCC Residential Project of the Year" for its winning design for the "Development of the area surrounding the Holy Shrines in Kadhimiya, Baghdad". The competition jury awarded the project to Dewan given that its proposal was the most comprehensive, aesthetic and sensitive to the area's historical, cultural and social character.Mohammed Al Assam, Founder and Chairman of Dewan, will also be giving a speech at the World Architecture Congress titled "Adopting a credible, coherent and practical architectural style in the Middle East", The World Architecture Congress is the world's premier forum for the global architecture and design industry running for 2 days with speakers from around the world gathering to share their experiences and lead the delegation in dialogue to achieve new standards of quality in design.

Said Al Assam: "Participation in major real estate gatherings is particularly important in light of current market conditions, as it enables us to assess people's and investors' response to projects and their reaction to economic changes, and also enables us to stay abreast of developers' activities and plans, This will help us to learn more about previous and forthcoming real estate cycles. Data gleaned from this participation will be taken into consideration when we are deciding on our plans for the future and determining target markets".
"There is a particular strategy for each phase that is dictated by the surrounding conditions. Current conditions urge firms to seek out varied opportunities and to expand into the entire region, where a multitude of opportunities exist in such sectors as education, healthcare, infrastructure and many others. We, at Dewan, feel proud that we have been awarded a number of major deals when the crisis was at its peak during the last 18 months and look forward to solidifying our position as the leading architecture and engineering firm in the Middle East," he added.
