Dubai: Danube Buildmart, a Dubai-based company, has invested Dh100 million in establishing a company in Italy, Milano — that specialises in luxury bathwares.

Milano products were launched at the Italian pavilion at the Big 5 Show for the first time. The launch is a part of the company’s strategy to develop its own products for a wider consumer base — as the company expands its business in the African continent.

“The company currently employs 100 people and produces 1,000 pieces of products per day. It has a research and development team in Milan, Italy, that constantly develops new products under the supervision of a design team with professionals from our head office and Italy,” Anis Sajan, Managing Director of Danube Building Materials, told Gulf News.

Milano will also help Danube raise its profile amongst quality building materials producers, after years of selling other manufacturers’ products. The new product line has been well accepted by the retailers in the GCC, Sajan said, which will help the company increase its annual sales by 50 per cent to Dh2 billion this year.

Sajan said, his company offers “unconditional warranty” — direct replacement of products in case of any complaint. “Besides, the Italian product comes with a Chinese price tag — which is much less than the Italian products,” he said.
