Damascus, (SANA) - The Syrian-Turkish talks held at Damascus Chamber of Commerce on Thursday focused on boosting bilateral cooperation and establishing joint investment projects in addition to increasing trade exchange.

Meeting Torbela Chamber of Commerce delegation of Turkey, Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Commerce Ghassan al-Qallaa said the agreements signed between Syria and Turkey, particularly regarding the establishment of the Free Trade Zone and cancelling the entry visas, have helped enhance trade and economic cooperation.

Al-Qallaa indicated to the importance of expanding transport between the two countries to facilitate the movement of individuals and goods, inviting Turkish businessmen to make investments in Syria and establish economic partnerships.

For his part, Deputy Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Commerce Bahaa-Eddin Hassan stressed the importance of achieving economic integration between Syria and Turkey.

He called for benefiting from Syria's geographic location and its membership in the Greater Arab Free Trade Zone Agreement to help the Syrian manufactured products enter regional markets without customs fees.

Chairman of Torbela Chamber of Commerce Abduluahap Oglun underscored the importance of developing bilateral cooperation, exchanging visits and establishing joint investment projects, particularly in the industrial field.

Since 2007, the Syrian-Turkish trade balance has remarkably developed after opening the Free Trade Zone.

Last year, trade exchanges reached USD 2 billion, with both sides aspiring to increase it up to USD 5 billion in the next few years.
