Caroline Wozniacki hit the surf in Dubai ahead of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, which starts its 20th year today

Tennis may be her main focus but there was no stopping Caroline Wozniacki this week as she took on Jumeirah.

From the beaches and tourist hotspots to the hotels and places of worship, the world No 4 enjoyed all the Dubai neighbourhood had to offer.

“I love to try new things and this is so exciting,” said Wozniacki — the second highest earning female athlete in the world last year — as she braved her first attempt at stand-up paddle boarding.

Avoiding jellyfish was the first obstacle before balance and core strength were put to the test. And while the 21-year-old made the popular sport look easy it didn’t come without its wobbles, the blonde plummeting into the chilly waters thanks to a lapse in concentration.
“I can’t believe how cold the water is,” she managed, in between screams and shrieks.
Wozniacki, in town to defend her Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships title, also visited Jumeirah’s Mina Al Salam Hotel where she fed the turtles and enjoyed a ride on an abra.
The tour ended with a visit to the iconic Jumeirah Mosque.
“Dubai is now a place I visit often,” said Wozniacki, who landed in Dubai for the Desert Classic golf tournament supporting her boyfriend Rory McIlroy, ahead of the WTA tournament.
