Clearance permits for transporting consignments of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) will be issued via internet for the first time in the country, announced the head of the National Road Management Center.

According to a fax sent to Iran Daily on Tuesday, Abbas Mahmoud-Abadi said based on the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15) modern technologies should be used to provide services to various executive organizations of the country.

He added that plans have been drawn up by the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) for the purpose.

The official said development of a Global Positioning System (GPS) software has helped computerize the activities related to the transportation sector.

He said an special software compatible with the conditions of Iran's roads has been designed to meet RMTO's requirements.

Mahmoud-Abadi said transportation of NIDC's consignments, which are used for oil and gas production, is highly important, adding that given NIDC's key role in domestic economy, it is the first company which has gained access to the new internet system in the center in Khuzestan province.

He noted that the company is authorized to receive its required clearance permits through the center's website.
