Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain | The General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), the global umbrella of Islamic financial institutions and the World Bank Group are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of a joint international conference on Corporate Governance of Islamic Financial Institutions: “Overcoming Challenges and Implementing Best Practices”, which is due to take place in Islamabad, Pakistan on 15th November 2016. The one day conference, which is held under the patronage of the State Bank of Pakistan, aims to bring together various stakeholders from the private sector, multilateral development institutions, international and national regulatory bodies, policy-makers, and academia to discuss emerging issues and best practices to ensure industry’s continued success.

This 2nd edition of the Annual conference on Corporate Governance of Islamic financial institutions is in succession to a successful first joint conference organized by CIBAFI and the World Bank Group in 2015 in Amman, Jordan. The objective of the conference is to reinforce both CIBAFI and the World Bank Group commitment to help foster the development of Islamic finance globally including in the developing markets in the area of Corporate Governance.

This event will also witness the launch of the joint CIBAFI – World Bank Report on Corporate Governance Practices of Islamic Banks.
