MUSCAT -- A training courses is designed at framing Communication for Development (C4D) strategy for sustained behaviour and social development among associate partners of Unicef -- Oman is currently underway at the Safeer Plaza Hotel. This interactive workshop will explore into the concepts, principles and theories of framing C4D with emphasis on strategic designing, communication analysis and tackle aspects of audience segmentation.
It will also explore in into the significance of defining the objectives of communication among other topics of discussion. The workshop concludes today. Participants include officials of the United Nations Organisations such as the World Health Organisation and Unicef. Participants also incorporate several representatives from the ministries of education, health, social development, national economy, Sultan Qaboos University and media organisations.
In her remarks on the occasion, Shoubo Rasheed Jalal, Regional Communication for Development Specialist, Unicef descried this workshop as a significant programme for sharing knowledge on the concepts of C4D in areas of school health, social development, education and on issues related to childhood and mother's well being. "According to the social indicators on an assortment of Unicef's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the Sultanate is on track of achieving the MDGs.
"But, a few indicators are still missing on addressing and achieving equity to all Omanis especially among the segment of the community, which is not easily reachable", said the official who is on a task to review the Sultanate's efforts on addressing obesity in children.
The project, which is being conducted in partnership of the Ministry of Health and Unicef is designed at reviewing and identifying areas of advancements of the C4D programmes in aspects related to Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) of households and on issues related to physical education.
