Take-over of Carlo Gavazzi and local tie-up with MAC, a big boost
The project boom in Saudi Arabia and the consequent shortage of specialized engineering and project contractors have started attracting new world leaders in this field. The latest to enter the Saudi market is a specialist Italian project group with a good track record in international operations Bonatti S.p.A.
Bonatti has just opened its full-fledged branch office in Al Khobar, with Mr. Placido Alu as the Branch Manager.
The Italian Company has invested SR 2 million in the new venture, for which it secured the necessary license from the Saudi General Investment Authority (SAGIA) in December last.

Bonatti's Saudi operations have since received a big boost, with the recent acquisition of another big Italian player in the project field, Carlo Gavazzi a company with have extensive operations in Saudi Arabia, especially in oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Carlo Gavazzi has the capabilities to take up turn-key projects and engineer and install electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and automation systems. Carlo Gavazzi and Bonatti have a complementary role to play in Saudi project execution.
In order to effectively do business in Saudi Arabia, Bonatti will operate in Partnership with MAC Construction Co., for the EPC and construction of oil, gas, industrial process, power, water and infrastructure projects.
Bonatti has a long tradition of industrial projects, domestic and overseas.
"With its operationally oriented organization and its deep-rooted competence acquired in 50 years of projects (it was founded in 1946), Bonatti is experienced in handling highly specialized and challenging projects" a spokesman told "Saudi COMMERCE".
EPC Contracts: Bonatti organization includes the engineering, procurement services as well as the construction capabilities that allows Company to develop and successfully complete EPC oil, gas and power plant contracts.
Amhad Water Re-injection Project (Libya) and Messina Gas Compressor Station (Italy) are the most recent EPC contracts completed by Bonatti.
The company also handles successfully projects such as the NC 41 in Libya for Eni Gas Company, a plant which processes gas and condensates with a capability of 6 billions of cubic meters of gas per year and of 36,000 barrels/day of condensate and where the Bonatti manpower peak reached 1,900 workers.
Bonatti, which is a member of I.P.L.O.C.A. (International Pipeline Contractor Association) has developed its own automatic welding system and has a record of pipelines laid in every part of the world, any type of environment and in the most difficult conditions, such as the 640 km pipeline across the Andes from Argentina to Chile, at 5,000 m as.
Civil Construction: Bonatti has accomplished several industrial civil works, most of them realized through advanced technologies in impervious locations: highways, bridges to the height of 90 m, buildings, hospitals, sports fields, parking lots, advanced industrial structures, dams, water purifying plants, railways, and 12,000 linear metres of galleries.
