Salalah: Within the framework of its continuous training and development programmes that aim to cement its position as the best bank in the Sultanate and the wider GCC area, BankDhofar participated at the 5th GCC Banking Institutes' Symposium that was held recently in Salalah. The symposium was organised by College of Banking and Financial Studies under the title of "Improving Institutional Performance through Emotional Intelligence."

The 3-day event brought together a number of professionals from different financial, academic and business sectors across the GCC member states. It was also attended by Nasser Said Al Bahantah, Chief Human Resources Officer at BankDhofar, Mohamed Ahmed Al Rawas, BankDhofar Regional Manager - Dhofar Region, Mohamed Ahmed Al Amri, Salalah Branch Manager, Hassan Ahmed Al Yafaey, Acting Manager Al Riadah Centre in Salalah, and Usama Ismail Al Farsi, Training Manager.

Nasser Said Al Bahantah, Chief Human Resources Officer, said: "Emotional intelligence emerges as a crucial quality for successful leaders who influence organisational culture through their ability to direct approaches, timely actions and situational decisions. It influences organisational effec­tiveness in a number of areas such as employee recruit­ment and retention, employee commitment, motivation, productivity, efficiency and quality of service, which ulti­mately results in improved business revenues. There is a positive association between the level of organisational emotional intelligence and operational and financial per­formance. This makes emotional intelligence a valuable asset for the innovation and success of any organisation."

The symposium aimed to enhance leaders' awareness of how emotional intelligence can contribute to the effec­tiveness of organisational performance, outstanding leadership and ways to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
