LONDON (Dow Jones)--WS Atkins PLC (ATK.LN), said Monday that it has been awarded a five-year contract by Ashghal, the Public Works Authority of Qatar, worth more than GBP65 million to help with the transformation of the roads and drainage systems in Qatar's capital city, Doha.
MAIN FACTS:
-Atkins will have a flexible team of civil and structural engineers, transport planners and urban designers working on the contract, drawn mainly from the Middle East, with support from the U.K. and North America.
-The work is a key part of Qatar's Master Plan and vision for 2030 and provides essential infrastructure in the run-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
-Atkins shares at 1033 GMT up 17 pence, or 2.8%, at 608 pence, valuing the company at GBP592.16 million.
