Mawared Wins "Best Developer" Award

Amman - During its participation at Cityscape 2008, which took place between the 13 - 16 of May in Abu Dhabi, the Mawared Group received notably unparalleled visitor attention and triumphed once again to the top by receiving the international award for "Best Developer" during an award ceremony and gala dinner held in the presence of 400 major investors, key influencers, and real estate companies at The Emirates Palace Hotel.

Akram Abu Hamdan, Mawared's Director General, received the prestigious award in honor of Mawared's exceptional contribution to world architectural culture, invention and imagination, respect for people and environmental awareness in the emerging and developed countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa. This Cityscape award is considered among the most prominent prizes granted globally in the field, judged by a panel of internationally acclaimed industry professionals. This is the 6th international award received by Mawared throughout their many involvements and participations at key regional and international exhibitions.

"Mawared has always been at the forefront of real estate development in Jordan and today we started imprinting the region with award winning projects, exporting with that the knowhow and vision that Jordan has to offer to the region", Akram Abu Hamdan stated during the award ceremony.  "Today we position Mawared among the Global players in the real estate industry. This prize endorses once again the significance and appreciation that Mawared enjoys outside Jordan, proving the abilities of a leading Jordanian establishment and the expertise it can contribute on a regional level."

During its participation in Cityscape Abu Dhabi, Mawared, for the first time ever outside Jordan, showcased the model of their newly launched King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City project, located in the Zarqa region. The project comprises 70,000 residential units built over a 25,000,000 sqm land plot, and is expected to accommodate around 400,000 inhabitants. The King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City project will encompass several shops, business offices, sport and cultural venues, and facilities with the objective of improving the overall quality of life in the city.

During the exhibition, Mawared's booth witnessed the visit of both the Saudi and Jordanian ambassadors in the UAE, in addition to various corporate leaders, prominent investors and key developers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the region who showed a great interest in Mawared's development projects.

About Mawared
Urban regeneration and the transformation of selected urban military sites into vibrant business centers in Jordan's major cities were inspired by the vision of Jordan's King Abdullah II, who took the pioneering step of relocating select military installations out of city centers.
The National Resources Investment and Development Corporation (Mawared), the owner of such sites, was established to lead Jordan's efforts in urban regeneration and inner cities development.
The process of vacating two major urban sites commenced in February 2002. These include the Abdali New Downtown project in Amman and the Madinat Al Sharq project known today as The King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City.
Mawared, an ideal partner for the private sector to engage in major real estate projects in Jordan, offers a unique opportunity to developers and investors to assist in the development of its sites on both commercial and residential levels. Within a relatively short time since inception, Mawared has become Jordan's leading urban regeneration entity and its largest real estate developer.
