AMMAN -- The Arab Potash Company (APC) Board of Directors approved a recommendation by Chairman Jamal Sarayrah and the company's Canadian executive management to pay JD 40 million in advance payment to the Treasury. According to a statement e-mailed by the mining company, this fund represents a large portion of the estimated JD45 million royalty fee APC is scheduled to settle in 2013.

"APC is genuinely interested in supporting the government during these difficult economic times, and our decision to pay this amount and not wait until it actually due is part of our understanding of the current economic challenges," Sarayrah said in the statement.
