Doha, Qatar, 27th April 2013: Senior executives from Almuftah Group have recently attended the 8th World Chambers Congress organized by the International Chamber of Commerce's World Chambers Federation and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Held at the Qatar National Convention Centre from April 22 to 25, 2013, the international forum gathered top business executives, trade policy experts and chamber representatives from more than 100 countries to develop and strengthen partnerships and to exchange best practice ideas that can help address current business challenges affecting their respective communities.
Almuftah Group Managing Director Ibrahim Almuftah expressed satisfaction over the staging of the important and prestigious event in Qatar.
"The holding of the 8th World Chambers Congress here in Doha speaks volumes about the growing status of Qatar in the world business stage.
"Events like this are an excellent platform upon which local enterprises like Almuftah Group can advance their expertise and drum up more business by building relationships with potential partners from within Qatar and from abroad," he said.
Almuftah Group, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, hoped to expand its local and international network and to introduce its products, services and latest initiatives through the congress. It is one of the many homegrown Qatari companies that sent a delegation to the event.
Held for the first time in the Middle East, the World Chambers Congress featured the theme "Opportunities for All" and comprised vibrant plenary sessions and interactive working sessions where participants gained insights from expert-led discussions on various topics, including education and unemployment, women in business, youth entrepreneurship, and the roles that small and medium enterprises play in the world economy.
The congress also served host to an extensive exhibition area, where local, regional and global firms gathered to showcase their products and services to the visitors, as well as to promote trade and business opportunities from their respective countries and business communities.
In addition to the exhibition, the congress also hosted other notable activities. These include pre-arranged one-on-one business meetings at strategic locations throughout the venue, which allowed delegates to connect and network better; a World Chambers Competition, which recognized a number of innovative projects undertaken by chambers of commerce and industry from all over the world; and the ICC World Trade Agenda Summit, an initiative aimed at marshalling support from business leaders and key policymakers for the establishment of a practical and forward-looking international trade policy agenda that will help improve economies and create millions of new jobs around the world.
