Ahmadinejad unveils construction projects in West Iran

TEHRAN - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unveiled a number of construction projects during his visit to the western city of Hamedan, the provincial capital, on Tuesday.

Part of a 175-kilometer long highway, which connects Hamedan to Saveh, a city in Markazi Province which is located about 100 kilometers southwest of Tehran, was inaugurated.

The part which was inaugurated is 85 kilometers long.

The highway will later be connected to the western city of Qasr-e Shirin in Kermanshah Province and then to Karbala in Iraq.

The work to lay the tracks of the Tehran-Hamedan railway also started during Ahmadinejad's visit.

And 19,800 house units were inaugurated as part of the Mehr housing project. 3,596 units were also inaugurated in the city of Malayer.

During another ceremony, a number of projects for developing Hamadan Airport were unveiled.
