Ahlibank conducted a seminar on Islamic Banking - Best Practices and Development' in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos University Commerce & Economics College on Monday at the university premises.

The seminar was organised by Ahlibank's Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services. Shaikh Ahmed bin Saud al Siyabi, secretary general of the ifta'a office, was the chief guest, a press release said.

Renowned Sharia scholars and experts in Islamic banking and finance participated in the seminar.

The speakers included Prof Dr Ali Muheldin al Quradaghi, chairman, Sharia Supervisory Board of Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services; Prof Dr Humayon Dar, chairman and CEO of Edbiz Consulting Limited, a London-based Islamic finance consultancy firm; Sheikh Aflah al Khalili, member, Sharia Supervisory Board of Al Hilal Islamic Banking Services; and, Dr Nasser al Mawali, assistant professor of economics, Sultan Qaboos University.

The attendees included students, dignitaries and other prominent citizens interested in learning about Islamic banking.

Dr Quradaghi stressed the commitment of Al Hilal to provide innovative products and services to all Ahlibank customers, in compliance with Shariah laws. He added that the bank's Islamic banking service will continue working towards promoting the understanding of Islamic finance in Oman.
