Dewan gearing up for Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2010
Dewan Architects & Engineers, one of the region's leading architectural and engineering consulting firms and recently ranked fourth on the Middle East Architect Power 20 list - a list of 20 of the biggest global architects working on the ground in the GCC - has confirmed its participation in the upcoming Cityscape Abu Dhabi.
The renowned international real estate investment and development event will take place from 18 to 21 April 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The theme of Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2010 is 'Transparency, Investment Strategy and Project Delivery', and this will be woven throughout the multiple stream sessions across all three days of the conference. Particular areas that will be addressed include Investment and Finance, Development and Market Fundamentals, and Markets and Sectors. This year's conference will bring together over 120 visionary speakers from more than 25 countries representing the biggest names from the investment and development communities.
Speaking of the firm's upcoming participation, Dewan Chairman Mr. Mohamed Al Assam said :, "At Dewan we firmly believe in the importance of the Cityscape events; so far we have attended each and every Cityscape Dubai since the very first one was held in the Grand Hyatt ballroom, as well as every single Cityscape Abu Dhabi. Last year we even attended Cityscape Jeddah, as we have recently opened an office in KSA as part of our strategic expansion. We have a lot of confidence in the region's property market, particularly that of the UAE capital where we have a number of projects underway, and we are very much looking forward to this year's Cityscape Abu Dhabi exhibition."
In addition to its projects in the UAE, which include the building of a school for Aldar Academies in Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi, and the design of a further six schools for the Abu Dhabi Education Council, among many others, Dewan's current projects include the community-centred, environmentally sustainable Shegery Residences development in Al Riyadh, KSA; and the comprehensive development of the area surrounding the holy shrines in Kadhimiya in Baghdad, Iraq, which project they were awarded after winning first prize in a design competition to develop the area surrounding the Holy Shrines in February of this year.
Dewan Architects & Engineers is a regional architectural and engineering design firm with offices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, and Manila, and with over 25 years of industry successes across GCC countries, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Boasting 220 staff and 140 architects locally, the firm was recently ranked the 60th largest architectural firm globally, and the 5th largest in the region, in Building Design Magazine's January 2010 issue, which featured the magazine's annual 'World Architecture Top 100' - a unique, definitive listing of the world's largest architecture practices. Over the past few years, the firm has entered associations with global firms such as Perkins + Will and Nikken Sekkei.
