Will invite investors to develop 60 projects
Bids will be invited for 60 projects worth up to Dh6 billion by Abu Dhabi Municipality.
Rashid bin Ali Al Omaira, investments and assets adviser at the Office of the Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Municipality, told Emarat Al Youm that these projects are in 40 community service centers inside and outside the island of Abu Dhabi.
These projects include restaurants, nurseries, multi-purpose halls and services centers of the various government bodies in addition to commercial centers to meet the needs of the communities.
He disclosed that there are 20 other investment projects, stressing the possibility of increasing the number of projects in the future, according to studies prepared by the municipality.
He added these studies take into account the needs of the population and the determinants of supply and demand.
Al Omaira said that the municipality conducted a study to identify the needs of the population densities, according to global standards. The study indicates the need of 40 sites to multiple uses community service centers, including 32 outside the Abu Dhabi Island and eight inside.
The municipality offered five bids last week for projects in Bani Yas, Al Shamkha, and the Al Nahda Al Askrya, Al Samha, and Khalifa 'B'.
He said that there are two types of community service centers - first serve densely-populated areas of between 6,000 and 15,000 0 inhabitants, located in an area of 20,000 square meters.
The second type serves four to five neighborhoods, with population density up to 40,000 people in an area of 40,000 square meters.
Al Omaira confirmed the possibility of concluding a partnership between the municipality and the investor for a period ranging between 20 to 50 years.
He added the bids are judged technically [70 per cent weightage] and financially [30 per cent].
Meanwhile Al Omaira pointed out that the municipality will offer the projects of the community centers according to a quarterly plan put between four to eight projects.
He stressed that what has been put forward projects so far is worth Dh1.5 billion, and the municipality is in the process of signing contracts and these will be announced soon.
Al Omaira said there are about 10 other investment tourism and entertainment projects in different areas inside and outside Abu Dhabi is being implemented, citing the example of the West 10 project, located on the interface the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
