Abu Dhabi: An Abu Dhabi Executive Council committee on Wednesday discussed launching a number of infrastructure projects in a session held under the chairmanship of Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture and Member of the Executive Council.
The committee also approved developing irrigation network, reservoirs and pumping stations from Al Fayah area to Al Ain, to expand the use of treated water instead of desalinated and fresh water resources, the executive council said in a statement.
The statement said that the objective is to maintain ground and fresh water reservoirs because the new network will provide 8,900 cubic metres per day.
The council’s specialised committee had entitled Abu Dhabi Municipality to tender the project to start its execution. The council said that
The project entails seven pumping stations and irrigation tanks with capacities ranging from 200,000 gallons to 1.5 million gallons.
For increasing effectiveness of public transport and to encourage using public buses, the Council’s committee also adopted a project to build a main bus station in the same place of Al Ain which will consist of an administration building, waiting hall, shops, and staff, bus and taxi parking lots.
