New CEM Systems upgrade means customers can apply in advance and track progress
Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), the master developer of ports and industrial zones has introduced a new electronic system for processing daily and visitor passes for land and seaborne traffic into and through Abu Dhabi ports - the 'e-Pass'.
With over 1,500 daily passes and an average of 150 visitor passes handled every day, the new 'e-Pass' system is expected to significantly reduce processing and waiting times for customers.
In order to inform all relevant customers of the new accelerated online processes, shipping lines and agents, freight forwarders, trucking companies and suppliers were all invited to a recent seminar, hosted by ADPC, to explain the advantages of the new system.
The key points highlighted were the online customer registration; the username/password generation; different gate pass application; document submission and online status tracking.
The ADPC sponsored three-day workshop, held at its head office in Zayed Port, offered ADPC's key customers a chance to try out and learn about the new system, in interactive sessions, and a presentation detailing how to make best use of the web-based processes.
The new e-Pass represents another clear demonstration of ADPC's continuing commitment to creating business-friendly environments through all Abu Dhabi's ports.
Commenting on the introduction of the e-Pass, Sultan Al Jaberi, Vice President - Regulations and HSE, ADPC, said:
"The new e-pass for daily and visitor passes offers our customers a much easier and quicker process through Abu Dhabi's ports. We are certain that the advanced customer services, complemented by the new, state-of-the-art technology, will deliver both supply chain long-term commercial value to ADPC and our customers."

The AED 26.5 billion (USD 7.2 billion) mega project - the first phase of the flagship Khalifa Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) development - has been designed to be flexible to reflect market needs. Kizad was launched to market in 2010, and the whole of Khalifa Port was inaugurated on 12/12/12 by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The port's semi-automated container terminal, unique in a radius of 5,000 kilometres, was launched on 1st September 2012. Khalifa Port is now handling all of Abu Dhabi's TEU container traffic after a full transfer from Zayed Port, the historic port in the UAE capital's city centre.
Phase 1 of Khalifa Port has a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent container units), plus 12 million tons of general cargo. Further phases of development will occur as market demand requires. With all phases complete, Khalifa Port will be able to handle 15 million TEUs and 35 million tons of general cargo per year.
