Currently, over 70 percent of drilling equipment and facilities are produced domestically, said the managing director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC).

Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate the 33th anniversary of NIDC's establishment, Heydar Bahmani said some responsibilities and drilling operations have been ceded to the private sector.

He said NIDC has drilled over 7.4 million meters of oil and gas wells since its establishment.

"It is considered one of the few companies worldwide, which can drill oil and gas wells," he said, adding that it also provides techno-engineering services.

Bahmani said the company boasts of 72 onshore and offshore drilling systems and over 16,000 skilled personnel.

NIDC drills oil and gas wells even in severe climate conditions and mountainous regions, he added.

On Friday, the managing director of National Iranian Oil Company said oil projects worth $150 billion are underway across the country.

On the implementation of projects in joint energy fields, Ahmad Qalebani said projects worth $110 billion have been put in force, of which $70 billion pertain to South Pars, Bushehr province.

Qalebani announced that close to $40 billion have been spent on development of South Pars Gas Field, adding that $30 billion would also be spent later.

"Currently, close to 20 percent of drilling rigs are active in joint fields," he said, estimating that the figure would reach 30 percent.
