The Forum wil tackle issues of concern dominating the Arab region

Dubai: The 12th edition of the Arab Media Forum (AMF) will be launched on Tuesday under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Themed 'Media in Transition', the two-day event, running from May 14 to 15, will be hosting over 3,500 Arab and foreign media representatives, analysts, experts, intellectuals, writers and journalists.

Organised by Dubai Press Club (DPC), the forum will tackle the most important issues of concern dominating the Arab region and discuss media phenomena that have resulted from the politically-charged environment as well as the increasingly rapid pace of security and social developments. It will also shed light on the controversial role played by the media and the extent to which it has contributed in determining the subsequent developmental course of events.

The official opening ceremony of AMF will see the participation of Grand Shaikh of Al Azhar Dr Ahmad Al Tayeb, who will give the inaugural speech at the event as well as the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Dr Nabil Al Araby, whose session will shed light on a number of significant issues related to the Arab nation. The second day's opening speech will host the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdul Latif Al Zayani who will address the most important issues related to the affairs and deep strategies of the Arabian Gulf nations.

The forum will conclude on Wednesday May 15 with a special ceremony honouring winners of the Arab Journalism Award (AJA), out of 4,000 participants competing for 12 categories that include the Humanitarian Journalism Award introduced for the first time in this year's edition.
