- Text size
Postgraduate placements in UAE increase up to 15 per cent year-on-year
GETEX 2012 will be showcasing a much broader selection of higher education programs, catering to the growing number of post-graduate placements and consistently strong demand for graduate programs in the UAE and across the Middle East. The UAE alone has witnessed a 10 to 15 per cent increase year-on-year in postgraduate placements according to a study by GETEX, while graduate programs and occupational courses remain in great demand with over 300,000 secondary education students in the UAE looking to enrol in various local and foreign universities. The increased emphasis on higher education in the upcoming edition of the event comes at a time when the changing economic landscape in the region has brought the importance of education to the fore like never before.
GETEX 2012, which will take place from 19th to 21st April 2012 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, will also introduce a unique "Business School" cluster in light of the growing interest in entrepreneurship and business education in the UAE and across the region, making it easier for students to choose from available courses being offered by prestigious academic institutions. More than 500 institutions and no less than 2,500 academic, vocational and training programmes will be on offer during GETEX 2012, which expects over 30,000 visitors from across the Middle East.
Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions (IC&E), organizers of the event, said: "GETEX has consistently been at the forefront of promoting quality education in the Arab world for over 25 years. We have established a wide network of strategic partners within the local and international academic sector, giving us greater leverage to cater to all the educational needs of students across the region. For GETEX 2012, higher education will be a major focus in line with our strategy to support efforts by Arab societies to boost the professional competency and enhance the career prospects of their citizens."
"Education certainly remains high on the agenda of all Arab countries, as manifested by the relatively high educational expenditure in the region. GETEX is taking proactive steps to complement the region's intensified investments on education by providing access to world-class academic programs and resources. For this year the emphasis will be on specialised streams in higher education such as the Business Schools cluster to help students make informed decisions when choosing courses that offer the best potential for professional growth," added Godinho.
IC&E further revealed that engineering and business & finance courses attracted the largest number of enrolees during the event's previous edition. More than 6,200 students enrolled in various engineering programs, while nearly 6,000 took up business & finance courses during GETEX 2011. Other courses that are popular among students in the region are IT, marketing, medicine, media studies and hospitality.
The event will be showcasing thousands of academic programs being offered by higher education institutions from all over the world. Universities from USA, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Lebanon, Turkey, Malaysia and 30 other countries will be represented at GETEX 2012.
