SANAA - Yemen's Tourism Minister, Nabil Al-Faqih resigned from his post and quitted the ruling party on Friday after a bloody shooting attack on anti-government protesters in Sanaa earlier in the day killing and injuring over 200 people.

The minister said the move was to clear his conscious against what he described "repeated attacks against peaceful demonstrators in all areas and provinces of the country." Former Yemeni Minister of Agriculture Jalal Faqirah along with Member of Shura Council (Parliament) Abdulwahab Al-Rohani announced their resignation from the People's General Congress ruling party as well.

Four days earlier, Minister of Awqaf Hmoud Al-Hattar resigned for the same reasons.

Meanwhile, the People's General Congress Ruling Party and the Joint Meeting Party exchanged accusations regarding the bloody attacks and unrest earlier in the day, which resulted in killing 45 protesters.

The ruling party condemned the attacks and the bloody clashes which resulted in killing dozens and injuring other dozens near the University area.

A source from the ruling party said that high commands in the party are to blame for what happened to protesters and citizens regardless of their political affiliation.

For their part, the Joint Meeting Party condemned in a press release, the bloody attacks against peaceful protesters in Al-Taghyeer (change) square.

The party called on officers and security personnel to condemn the criminal attacks, reject any participation in killing Yemeni citizens, and join side by side to the Yemeni people.
