Abu Dhabi seeks bids for trains, cars for railway

Abu Dhabi's Union Railway CompanyUnion Railway Company
, the project which is linking the UAE via cargo and passenger trains, on Sunday sought bids for diesel locomotives and freight wagons to service the line.In an advertisement in a local newspaper, the company said that the bids for rail cars and engines must be submitted by October 3, 2010 and company will provide pre-qualification documents for collection by interested parties by September 19.
The initial segment will link the Shah natural gas field in the desert to the southwest of Abu Dhabi city to oil and gas treatment facilities at Habshan, closer to the Emirate's coast and to the port at Ruwais for shipments abroad.
Abu Dhabi National Oil CompanyAbu Dhabi National Oil Company, the state energy producer, plans to transport sulphur from the Shah Gas field by rail to Habshan, where it has production and processing facilities.
