Telephone call rates by the UAE service providers are high while their services to the public are still below the required standard, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Arabic language daily al Khaleej.

The paper said the majority of the 100 people polled in the survey also believe that offers made by EtisalatEtisalatLoading... and DuDuLoading... are not real although they include price cuts.

The survey showed that 66 per cent of the respondents said they believed local mobile phone rates are high while 16 per cent found the rates medium and 16 per cent said they are acceptable. Two per cent considered the rates low.

The paper said 60 per cent polled about international calls said they are still high despite a series of reductions in the past few years. It said 24 per cent of the respondents said the rates are moderate and eight per cent said they are low.

The survey found that 64 per cent of those polled about promotion offers by EtisalatEtisalatLoading... and DuDuLoading... said they were below the required level while 22 per cent found these offers real and 14 per cent said they were fake.

As for services to enquiring subscribers, the poll showed 60 per cent of the respondents were not satisfied with such services while 22 per cent said they were good and 18 per cent found them acceptable.

Most of the respondents also said they believed the competition between EtisalatEtisalatLoading... and DuDuLoading... has not led to a real price cut while 60 per cent called for the establishment of a third telecommunication service provider in the UAE to "increase competition and upgrade services," according to al Khaleej.
