Bahrain: 'Extension denied to unregistered SIM users'
- Text size
Pre-paid SIM card users whose lines have been disconnected for failing to register have been advised to visit their service provider with proof of identity to try and get their lines reconnected.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Amer, Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the Kingdom, said in a statement that contrary to recent media reports there has been no extension given to those who have failed to register their numbers.
"The process of disconnection of unregistered pre-paid mobile telephone lines was set into motion from Wednesday, September 1st," he said.
Those affected can visit the nearest branch of their service provider with the necessary documentation to get their information registered and get their service back. A spokesperson told the Bahrain Tribune that the window of opportunity to register and reconnect the lines will be according to the validity of the SIM card, which is set by the service provider according to the refill vouchers purchased.
