With over 1 million housing units in the upcoming three years, the government estimates that 85% of home building will be carried out by the private sector and foreign investments
Erbil, August 2010: The current Iraqi reconstruction phase has created a huge demand for construction expertise and capital. The real estate development, construction, and building material industries are all ripe for investments. The large number of construction projects in industrial, commercial, corporate and infrastructure sectors are requiring vast amounts of building materials, design capacity, and construction expertise. Opportunities are available across all geographic locations and the already high demand will continue to grow, especially in Kurdistan now established as the northern commercial centre of Iraq offering a secure and stable gateway.

Private sector investment dollars as well as expertise are greatly needed in all sectors. Prospects exist to provide for the great number of over-crowded existing households, rehabilitation of transportation infrastructure and the ever growing need for development of the industrial base. This will substantially increase the demand for efficient designs and competent completion of sizeable construction projects from a large number of industrial sectors. The huge long-term business potential, coupled with the real need for outside capital and expertise, promises unique investment opportunities for those who pioneer the construction sector.

This rising demand results in an imminent need for a professional trade fair materialized in Project Iraq 2010- the 3rd international trade exhibition for construction, building materials, equipment and environmental technology. The event represents the perfect opportunity for all construction professionals, whether local, regional or international to capitalize on the endless opportunities offered in this thirsty Iraqi market. The fair will be held from September 27 - 30 2010 and staged at the Erbil international fairground.

The third edition is bringing together some 300 companies from all over the world, of which some are marking their presence through national pavilions (Iran, Turkey) amongst other participating countries such as Italy , Iran, Turkey, Bahrain, Egypt, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Portugal, Syria, Thailand, UAE, UK, Iraq, Germany, Jordan, KSA, Oman, Pakistan and Switzerland.

Held under the patronage of the Kurdistan Regional Government and supported by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the exhibition stretches on + 13,000 SQM and will attract project owners, engineers, contractors, traders, officials, and professionals in quest of satisfying their  sourcing needs by discovering new products and equipments.

Mr. Fady Darwish GM of IFP Iraq highlighted: "With some $25 billion in Housing Projects, $8 billion in Transportation and $5.539 billion in Water and Sewage, the government is focusing primarily on reconstruction and rehabilitation. Several new cement plants are being either revamped or erected to satisfy a growing need and major international players are now present. Iraq consumes around 15 million tons of cement yearly with the Iraqi ministry being the largest consumer".

And added: "We have decided to dedicate a standalone show because of the rising need for construction solutions." He then described Project Iraq 2010 as an unequaled platform that will help participants capitalize on the countless construction opportunities that the country is  offering, by providing them with a an exhaustive lineup of the latest innovations and technologies.

And concluded: "Project Iraq aims at becoming the construction landmark of Iraq, serving all parts of the country, because it is the only show that can attract so many local, regional & international players of scale."

Project Iraq exhibition will supply Iraq in the high-priority areas of construction and construction technology, housing, building materials, electricity and transport infrastructure and will introduce new products and services to a market with great needs and opportunities.
