Rezidor announces appointment of Biya Levy as Regional Responsible Business Coordinator

- one of the fastest growing hotel management companies worldwide - announces the appointment of Biya Levy as the new Regional Responsible Business Coordinator for the Middle East.Levy, an Indian national; has over 15 years experience in the hospitality industry as well as a solid background and involvement in Responsible Business activities.
Having worked for a number of leading International operators in India and the Middle East throughout her career, Levy joined Rezidor in 2005 as Executive Secretary at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City. It was during this time that she took on the additional role of Responsible Business Trainer and Co-ordinator for the hotel. In 2009, Levy moved to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Abu Dhabi Yas Island as Executive Secretary and Responsible Business Coordinator and Trainer for both the Radisson Blu Hotel and Park Inn Abu Dhabi, Yas Island.
Having worked as a Responsible Business Trainer and Co-ordinator for five years, Levy has undertaken various Responsible Business activities on behalf of the hotels including; the launch of a recycling programme in TECOM, Dubai, collaboration with the Engineering Departments to search for more energy saving solutions, ongoing monitoring of recycling programmes within the hotel and staff accommodation, as well as working in partnership with a number of local charities to organize events, raise funds and utilize the hotel facilities and team members to provide valuable support to those in need. Levy also played an integral part in the successful launch of the now annual Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City Shoebox Appeal Programme in September 2008 which saw over 7500 boxes of essential items with a total value of AED 900,000 donated to local construction workers.

Since 2001, all operating hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa (today more than 280 properties) focus on the health & well-being of guests and employees, social & ethical issues within the company and on a reduced negative impact on the environment. An environmental programme has however been in place since the mid 1990s. The firm recently announced that two of its hotels in the Middle East region have achieved Green Globe Certification and plans to achieve the same for a number of other properties in its portfolio in the near future.
In her new role, Levy will drive and coordinate Responsible Business activities across Rezidor's 25 Middle East hotels including overseeing and initiating activities for the firm's annual Responsible Business Action Month in September; a month where all entities within the group are encouraged to dedicate time and resources to responsible business activities and raising money for the World Childhood Foundation, Rezidor's corporate charity.
