It grants over AED 1.6 million for 74 needy patients of Epidemic Hepatitis

Abu Dhabi, 31 August, 2010: Zakat Fund has given AED 1.6 million for a total of 74 patients of Epidemic Hepatitis who are not able to afford their medication expenses. This grant comes in line with the Fund's outstanding Reward and Recovery project that aims to extend a helping hand to the needy patients to alleviate their suffering.

HE Abdullah bin Aqeeda Al Muhairi, Secretary General of Zakat Fund, said: "We are still going on with our noble mission at Zakat Fund inspired by the vision of Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his son HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, whose desire was to make the Fund a safe shelter for every needy person living in the country."

He pointed out that Zakat Fund's activities are based on a spectacular new system of work through which the Fund takes full care of each case of Hepatitis patients for a year long. Zakat Fund offers the patient a comprehensive medication and therapy that includes consequent and periodical biological analysis to ensure full recovery.

"We are used to handle the cases of Hepatitis patients for the whole journey of therapy until the patients became healthy again, exactly just like we do with the excelled needy students when we support them throughout the years of their higher education until they graduate and turned themselves from being Zakat recipients to active breadwinners, and eventually to Zakat payers," Al Muhairi added.

He called on all hospitals and medical centers in the country to cooperate and partner with Zakat Fund to fight Epidemic Hepatitis and offer the patients with medication in reasonable prices that would enable the Fund handle more cases of advanced Hepatitis patients.

Through its Reward and Recovery project, Zakat Fund has granted millions of Dirhams to thousands of needy patients to help alleviate their suffering. This project is one of seven major charitable projects launched by the Fund targeting the needy school and university students, chaste families, the poor & the needy, social institute support, debtors and prisoners' families.
