Opening of some Metro Red Line stations delayed

The opening of some of the final eight Red Line stations for the Dubai MetroDubai Metro
will reportedly be delayed.Low projected numbers of potential users and a lack of development surrounding some of the stations has led to a decision by the Roads and Transport AuthorityRoads and Transport Authority to delay the works, according to a report in The National. The paper said the RTARTA had earlier announced that all the stations would open in autumn, which starts tomorrow. Ramadan Mohammed, the director of rail operations at the Roads and Transport AuthorityRoads and Transport Authority
told the paper that some stations would be opened by the fourth quarter this year but others wouldn't open until the potential usage figures improved.The RTARTA
had announced that all 29 Red Line stations would be operating by October. Those still to open include Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Nakheel, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Energy Station, Jebel Ali Industrial and Jebel Ali. A final decision on the stations to open is expected soon. By Staff
