Batelco warns against UAE scam

warned its customers yesterday to be on the alert against scams, after a spate of fraudulent phone calls were reported.The calls are being made from several mobile numbers in the UAE (numbers starting with +971) and customers are being told that they have won large sums of money and being asked for their bank account details.
One customer D.L., who received one of these calls, told the Bahrain Tribune that she kept receiving missed calls from the UAE number (+971) 501877017 on Saturday. "At first I did not respond but later in the day I thought that it could be a friend who may have come to the Gulf region and was trying to contact me," she said.

's customers have received calls or missed calls from +971 numbers. The UAE callers are using BatelcoBatelco
's name and advising our customers that they have won BD50,000 and requesting personal information such as name, bank account details and CPR numbers to arrange payment of the money."
