Landmark deal for global telecommunications industry facilitated by IntraLinks' critical information exchange solution
IntraLinks, a leading provider of critical information exchange solutions, congratulates Zain, the leading telecommunications operator across the Middle East and Africa, on the successful sale of its African operations to Bharti Airtel for an enterprise value of US$10.7 billion. Under the terms of the original agreements, Zain has licensed the use of the "Zain" brand and related trademarks to Bharti in all 15 African operations for an interim period.
The sale of Zain's African business, excluding its operations in Morocco and Sudan, to Bharti Airtel is not only a landmark deal for the global telecommunications industry but is one of the biggest deals in the Middle East since the merger of Emirates Bank and National Bank of Dubai to Emirates NBD in 2007.
Andrew Damico, CEO of IntraLinks, said: "Congratulations to Zain for the successful sale of its African business to Bharti Airtel. We are extremely pleased that we could be part of the process, facilitating the due diligence phase with Zain and the post-closing integration with Zain and Bharti Airtel. To be part of such a landmark deal is exciting and an honor and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with both parties moving forward."
